Last week the leading global benchmarker, the Fraser Institute’s Survey of Mining Companies, handed Australia a nasty sovereign risk report card. We flunked with a rating of “extraordinarily negative”.

It was Julia Gillard’s very own My School report and it was ugly. Explorers and miners across the wide brown land read it with fear and defeat. The mines that drive our economy cost hundreds of millions to build and the results meant capital will be harder to find, and more expensive across all Australian jurisdictions – meaning in all states.

Techenomics Proudly Supporting the Hunter Valley Mining Industry

Techenomics News DeskTechenomics showcased their products and services at this year’s 2010 Singleton Mining and Industry expo. With well over 2000 visitors and more than 200 exhibitors present over the three day period, Techenomics staff were kept very busy with enquiries and demonstrations on their products and services.

There was special interest in Oil Analysis, Filtration, Hydrocarbon management, magnetic plugs, onsite services, OnSpec lubricants and Puncture Proof. All of these products are frequently used throughout the mining, rail, fright, shipping and industrial areas. The products all play a part in preventative maintenance, lowering downtime and saving unnecessary costs on replacement parts and failures.

“Techenomics handed out promotional bags courtesy of Hotpromos in Melbourne, these promotional bags contained mouse mats, pens, key rings, bottle openers, magnets and the Techenomics services brochure. These were well received for those who attended the Singleton Mining & Industry Expo, that is all of those who managed to get one before they ran out” Said Mr Roger Webb, Sales Engineer, Techenomics International.

Chatree North Plant Expansion – Construction Contract Finalised

Kingsgate Consolidated NewsdeskThe company has finalised and signed a construction contract for the Chatree North processing plant expansion project with the global diversified engineering services and project management group, Ausenco
Limited. The expansion project involves the construction of a new plant and upgrade of existing infrastructure to more than double the mine’s combined ore processing capacity to over 5 million tonnes per
annum of mine ore.

The construction contract is an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (“EPCM”) contract with Ausenco’s Minerals & Metals team who will manage the EPCM assignment for the Chatree
North expansion project, with specialist procurement expertise being delivered from the company’s global procurement hub in Thailand.

The Ausenco EPCM contract has a target price of A$97 million. In addition Kingsgate’s Thai operating subsidiary will complete other ancillary works, including an upgraded electrical substation and other major
earthworks.
